Self-Checkout? Not For Me

The other day I was at Walmart (surprise, surprise) and noticed the vast amount of people using the self-checkout lanes. Now, maybe it's just me, but I'm not a fan of the self-checkout. I always think I'm going to mess things up. Even if I only have one item (but, come on, who only has one item at Walmart?!?), I have to wait *patiently* in the 20 items or less lane and have some scholar ring me up properly (fingers crossed that there isn't some scanning emergency and that blasted blinking light doesn't come on, because for whatever reason, I always pick the lane that gets the idiots with the blinking light waiting for additional help from an even bigger scholar/manager). Since when do I go places to do my own work anyway? Isn't that what I'm paying for? Someone to assist me? I heard a comedian once who said, "When I'm done selecting my bread, would you like me to go bake it as well?" Self-checkouts feel the same for me, but I know other people love them. Guess it's all a matter of personal preference, right?

I'm not a fan of them either until I've got some personal items that I don't care for others to see that I need, then the self-checkout is golden!
