One Woman's Trash is Another Woman's Treasure

Yes, I know, it's completely cliché, but isn't it funny how one woman's trash is often someone else's treasure. A few of my friends at work recently had gastric bypass surgery and therefore have a need to get rid of their clothes. I'm always happy to help in that area - bring on the new clothes! Today I'm wearing another masterpiece of a comfy dress...yay for me! One of the girls had so many clothes, I can hardly fit them in my already-filled-to-the-brim closets (not that I'm complaining, of course, it's fun!). This isn't new to me at all - when I was little we'd always get hand-me-down clothes from one of my mom's friends. Whenever her daughters grew out of their dresses, we'd get a new bag of clothes (which weren't always the cutest things I've ever seen...although I did enjoy a good pair of culotts). Bless their hearts. I think the most interesting part about the whole hand-me-down clothes thing is that I grew up with people always telling me how much money we had, or assuming we were far more well off than we were, while always hearing my parents fight about money. This is the house I grew up in. I loved that house and had amazing experiences there, but it wasn't free from monetary concerns or normal problems. I'm not sure what got me started walking down memory lane...maybe just finding this picture of our house. Who knows.
