Here's the funny thing about this picture (other than the tears in my eyes....embarrassing....)...Simon LeBon is actually my least favorite member of Duran Duran. Yeah, I said it. Andy Taylor used to be my least favorite, but he quit (what was he thinking?!!?), so Simon took his place. My true loves (in order) are: Nick, John, Roger, and then Simon. Granted, Simon is an amazing performer and great singer, but he's just not my TLF. Still, he is the lead singer of Duran Duran and therefore I was all about getting a picture with him.
So, there I was in the Palm, circling and circling (times infinity) for any sign of my beloved band members at one something in the morning and I'd *just about* about given up (as even I have some limits). I decided to circle ONE more time and just happened to see Simon walking out some door with a girl. I ran up next to him with my camera and said, "Simon, can I please get a picture with you?" Sadly, he *tried* to pull a "Kelly Clarkson" on me (i.e. looked straight ahead/down and pretended to go spontaneously deaf at the sound of my voice), but I was having none of that. Hello, it's DD!!! So, I kept up next to him and explained how I'd driven down from SLC and would he please take a picture with me (yes, I'm classy, I know). He said if I could take the picture while we walked, he'd take it. Well, I just happen to be incredibly skilled at walking pictures, so waa-laa. Picture history is made. Thanks, Simon! After the picture I'm pretty sure I told him he was brilliant that night, but I'm certain he could give a crap less about my opinion. Oh, well. At least I got the pic, right? :)
