Just so you know, I hate horror movies. HATE THEM. I want no part of anything bloody, gory, scary, or gross. On the flip side, I LOVE Kevin Smith movies and happen to think he's a bit of a genius. I was dying to see
Red State and although I had a ticket to see it when it premiered at Sundance, when I heard it was a horror movie, I chickened out. I couldn't do it. I was scared. Of course, ever since then, I've heard nothing but how amazing, disturbing, brilliant and un-like a Kevin Smith movie it is, while still being great. Naturally, I was curious to see how it all played out, so when I saw it being streamed at Netflix, I decided to finally check it out by myself
(where no one could see me scream). Here's my review: It's terrifyingly wonderful. I watched it on Sunday and the film still occupies my mind days later because it was really interesting, thought provoking, vicious, and well done. It's probably best I didn't see it in a theater, but wow. Just wow. Nicely done, Kevin. Nicely done.
