Shopping Saturday

Today was an action packed day to say the least. First, I walked to the Farmer's Market to check out my fave necklaces (although I was somehow able to resist buying a new one today - hooray willpower). Then, I picked up my good friend Lu Lu Bell and we went to see My Sister's Keeper (hello, tearjerker supreme). After the movie we went and ate at China Gourmet (yum) and then hit up two malls and found a plethora of super cute clothes to buy. One of my favorite stores (Torrid) pre-approved me for a credit card and so I *may* have gone a little clothes crazy.....but hey, why not? The clothes were way too cute to pass up and now I've got outfits to wear for the next few weeks. Wahoo! I love wearing flowing fun dresses during the summer, so my wardrobe is now packed full of even more dresses. Have I mentioned I love dresses? Oh yeah, maybe once or twice.

Pinky's Fandance, Sunday Edition

David Blue is adorable. I met him a few years ago while we were both waiting for a bus and then ended up running into him all over the place. This year I only saw him for a brief moment on Main Street, but we're Myspace friends (so, obviously, that means we're BFFs). In case you don't recognize him, David's probably best known for playing Mark's boyfriend, Cliff, on Ugly Betty. Love him.

Tributes Tributes All Around

I'm finding all the tributes to both MJ and Farrah quite interesting. Here are my top three MJ tributes today:Do you think this could possibly be my hitchhiker friend? Anything's possible, right?
I wonder how long this took to make? Can MJ see it from the sky? Are these mourners also worried about getting the swine flu?Tonight on TV Land they're doing a tribute to Farrah by airing their TV series "Chasing Farrah." I have to say, she was quite entertaining to watch. In fact, she was delightful. I wish I'd watched this before. I guess it doesn't matter much now, but still. I'm enjoying it immensely.
On a related note, do you think she feels slighted that MJ went and stole her thunder?

Celebrity Wrap Up - Sunday Edition

Hello and welcome to Sunday's edition of Celebrity Wrap Up. I'm not sure if you've seen this picture of Megan Fox snubbing the "Rose Boy," but for some reason it makes me laugh. His angst! His sadness! Poor little pumpkin.
I hope Lily Allen is wearing that glove as a tribute to MJ...but what would explain the Oompa Loompa-like orange tan?Can someone please explain to me how Sascha Baron Cohen had such an adorable child?
Hey Miley - Nice biker shorts. Thank you, Zac Efron, for covering up your hideous hair with a hat. Still, you should cut your hair. I'm just saying.

Torrential Downpour + Art = Fun Fun Fun

Tonight I went to the annual SLC Arts Festival with Tracie and Inge. All seemed fun and festive until out of nowhere (to be fair, there were clouds in the sky, but no one knew they'd explode so suddenly and fiercely) we became trapped by a huge torrential downpour. Here's a picture before the downpour: And only a few minutes later, we were sitting under a tarp holding an umbrella, surrounded by throngs of people trying to keep dry from the neverending rain.Luckily we'd already laid claim to a table and chairs, so we were OK to wait out the thunder and lightning. It was an adventure to say the least! Once the skies had cleared, we were able to venture back out to the booths and I found a super cute flamingo puppet to amuse people with (and also a playmate for Galoon, perhaps?). Isn't it awesome? How could we pass that by? The best part about the rain was the double rainbow and unique clouds left in its wake.
Of course, I was not a fan of the ten mile hike back to Inge's car (*slight* exaggeration), but it was worth it overall for the fun time had by all. Thanks, girls! :)

Staycation for Me

So, I was invited to go to a houseboat this weekend with a bunch of friends from high school. As fun as it sounded, and how great it'd be to see everyone (not to mention the fact that I've never been on a houseboat before), I decided to stay home instead. When I went to RSVP, I noticed everyone coming with all their families and in my fragile (read: wussified and blubbering) state of mind, I decided against it. Plus, it was all the way in Northern California and who has the time to drive there? I suppose it would've been fun, though. Hmmm. Still, I need to save my vacation time for Sundance. Perhaps I'll plan something fun for the 24th of July weekend - I might be a fully functioning person again by then (fingers crossed). No promises....but maybe.

Pinky's Fandance, Saturday Edition

OK, so let's just lay it all down right now: I was not a fan of Strangers with Candy. AT ALL. However, I do think Amy Sedaris is hysterical - especially when she's on Letterman. She's a bit of a comic genius and I was stoked to see her at her film back in 2005 (when SJP and Matthew Broderick were total no-shows). Surprisingly, I seemed to be the only person asking her for a picture. What's that about? Don't they know who she is? Doesn't the guy in the background look thrilled by the entire transaction? Why was there a slow fog in front of us? We were inside. Weird.

New Orleans Loves Galoon

Still emerging from his triumphant trip to New Orleans: more pictures from The Big Easy. I think the piano bar pic might be my fave.

Celebrity Wrap Up - Saturday Edition

Hello and welcome to Saturday's edition of Celebrity Wrap Up.Oooh, Leighton Meister. You're so shiny. Nice bedazzler.
How stinking cute are Zoey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt? Love them. Love the movie (500 Days of Summer, that is). Bliss.Overheard in the Wentz-Simpson house earlier in the day, "OK, Ash, so I'm going to wear my black leather jacket to look super tough. Do you have a black leather dress to match? We'd be, like, way rockin' if we matched. Yeah. Totally. Right on. Dude."Speaking of matching, if you're going to match outfits with someone, shouldn't it be with someone you're actually dating/married to and not just your designer?Obviously Fergie's cat has been very, very bad. Perhaps she should get it de-clawed?

Passive Aggressive Friday

Welcome to Passive Aggressive Friday. The following items were found on http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com/: Personally I have no problem with Vegans or Carnivores, but this note is funny!
What would Walt Disney think? Poor little Mickey being made into a pawn like that.As always, Facebook quarrels are the best. :)Stop using the freezer bags already! Sheesh.
Nice spelling. R U a student? At least they know his strengths. My favorite thing he can cook is "fast food."
Somebody's ticked!

Bunko Reunion (Minus the Bunko Part)

I love my girls! With Christi "Crusty" moving way too far away (curses!) to North Carolina next month, Shmegan and Crusty's mom organized a Bunko reunion/going away party tonight. It was a lot of fun; but then again, it's always great to see my girls. I've missed our monthly Bunko nights! I'm not sure why we didn't get a big group picture (drat!), but here are a few random pictures. Oh yeah, we were also too busy talking we didn't actually get around to playing Bunko either. Oops-y. Maybe next time. :)

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

While I'll admit to not loving MJ as he aged and got weirder and weirder (nor do I agree with the things he did or didn't do or understand his thought process AT ALL), I still always held a small little place in my heart for this MJ - the yellow sweater vest wearing dance machine who dazzled us with "Thriller" and sang "Say Say Say" with a Beatle. My sister and I had this exact poster on our wall when I was around 12 (the same time the rest of my walls were adorned with Ricky Schroder pictures). I miss the MJ in this poster. I wish he hadn't left us so long ago (not just today....let's face it, that MJ left the building 20 years ago).
When I was in college, I did a ride share with this really annoying guy to California for some holiday. On the way back he was driving me bonkers and I saw a hitchhiker on the side of the road who I picked up (don't judge me - it was freezing outside and he didn't even have a jacket). I know, I know, probably not the safest thing, but I guess since I had company it didn't seem as scary. Long story short: the guy was from the UK and had come to the US to dance with Michael Jackson. Seriously. I kinda thought he was insane, but at the same time I completely respected his determination and ability to follow his dream. When he first got to New York his bag and money had been stolen, so he was left to hitchhike to California in search of the King of Pop. I never found out how that story ended (did he ever meet him? Where did he go after SLC?), but it was definitely an interesting adventure.
R.I.P. MJ.

Oh No! Pac-Man's Being Followed

This comic cracked me up, especially considering how much I love all things Pac-Man related (well, Ms. Pac-Man, to be exact). I wonder if he'll cancel his Twitter account now? :)
