Pinky's Fandance - Katee Sackoff

I'll admit it: Before we met, I wasn't familiar with who Katee Sackoff at all since I don't watch Battlestar Gallactica. 

Still, she was SO SO nice that it made me want to support anything she does. Not sure that means I'm going to watch the Sy-fy channel anytime soon, but you never know.

See This: This Is 40

I've been dying to see This Is 40 since I first saw the trailer for it. I don't know why it took me so long to rally to see it, but I finally got to the theater today and saw it. 

I'm happy to report that I totally and completely LOVED it. True, I'm turning (this is hard for me to say) 40 this year, so I can probably relate to it a little *too* well, but still. It was very well done and all around entertaining. 

By far my favorite line was Leslie Mann saying, "40 can suck my dick" at the beginning of the film. Loved it!

Of course, it doesn't hurt that Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow are two of the coolest cats around. I don't think there's anything they've ever done that I haven't enjoyed. Well done, you two! Well done.

Stupid Mall Carnies

The other day I had to stop by a mall on my way home to get some foot stuff and made the mistake of making eye contact with what I like to call a "Mall Carnie" - essentially those aggressive salesmen in the mall usually found in one of these lovely kiosks.

Now, this Mall Carnie didn't work in a kiosk, but it was just as bad. He worked in a store called Orogold.

Now, I only accidentally made eye contact with him because he was kinda cute. I thought he was going to give me a little sample and that would be the end of it, but, no. He sat me down and basically told me all the things that were wrong with me - my eyes were too puffy, my skin wasn't good, blah blah blah. I'm not sure how insulting me would really make me want to try his product because even after he did the "before and after" thing, I still wasn't convinced. I was just annoyed he wasted my time. Stupid mall carnie.

Pinky's Fandance - Thomas Robinson

If you've seen The Switch, you'll recognize this adorable little face. Thomas Robinson played Sebastian and he was the sweetest thing you've ever seen.

When I asked him for a picture at the premiere, he wasn't really sure what was going on, but eventually he figured it out. He was just way too cute!

Lazy Weekend

As everyone at work seems to be sick, I took some extra rest time this weekend in order to ward off any germs that were trying to stick around. I had the glimmer of getting sick, but it was enough to keep me down all day yesterday. 

Sadly I missed my cyber friend Becky being in town - although, honestly, I was a hot mess when she was here and I wouldn't want anyone seeing me in that state! We'll have to hang out another time for sure! Today I feel a lot better, although I could always use more sleep. :)

Countdown to Sundance

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly Sundance sneaks up on me every year. It seems like I just got back from last year's Festival and now it's less than two weeks away. How does that happen? Where does the time go?

Officially Sundance starts two weeks from yesterday - can you believe it? Time to start digging up all my winter gear. Brrrr!

Pinky's Fandance - Shannon Elizabeth

One year at Sundance I was walking down Main St. late at night and somehow passed Shannon Elizabeth without getting a picture. It has driven me crazy ever since as I'm a huge American Pie fan and she was great in the movie.

Luckily, I ended up running into her at a play in LA and she was kind enough to stop and pose with me despite being in a huge hurry. Hooray! Now I can stop obsessing about missing her before. :)

Sephora WIN

OK, I'll admit it: I'm a bit of a Sephora virgin. Although people have been sending me things for years from this store, I never really knew much about it except that it had a cool logo.

My dear friend Lindsay from www.iamnotastalker.com has been showing me the beauty of the store for the past year or so. We've visited various locations in LA several times and each time it's been an extremely pleasant experience. The staff is very helpful and they have everything you can imagine inside to buy.

Of course, that's not to say it's not without a price...the stuff can be on the pricey side. But, it's worth it. Plus, the entire experience makes it OK.

The reason why so many people have sent me things from this store is that they have a really cool Hello Kitty line with the most amazing products. I love them all.

One of the best parts about the store, aside from their customer service, is that they have a really great return policy. Because of this, I was shocked to have a really terrible experience at the Thousand Oaks location on Christmas Eve when I was returning one of my glitter eyeliners (with a receipt even). The girl was downright rude and I was shocked because it had never happened at a Sephora before. I ended up writing their customer service department and letting them know because I was really disappointed and didn't want to return to that location again. To my surprise and delight the manager contacted me and asked me to stop by for a little gift. Well, there was nothing little about it! In addition to the awesome bag, it was filled with all these goodies (minus my wallet - I'm not sure why it's in the picture). And she couldn't have been nicer - she even hugged me when I left. I will definitely return to Sephora and truly appreciate their sincerity and desire to correct a bad experience. Way to go, Sephora! You rule!

The Search of the Perfect Pink

My latest quest is to find the perfect way to pink up my hair for Sundance this year without leaving it stained and fading and gross for months on end like last year.

If you'll recall, last year it started off like this (which my sister did and I think she went up way too high)....

and still looked like this disaster months later. Ugh. It was neverending!

I bought some hair mascara the other day - but, as you can see (if you can even see it), it's barely showing up. Plus, with the snow / wetness factor, I'm thinking it'll fade out immediately. Something else will have to be done for sure. I've now got some hair dye on order and if I can manage to just do the tips, I think we'll be OK. Then, if I hate it later I can just cut it out. Sounds like a plan, right?

Pinky's Fandance - Liam Neeson

I love my story about meeting Liam Neeson at Sundance because it was just so totally random. It was the middle of the second week of the Festival a few years ago, which is traditionally a down time. I'd just grabbed a bite to eat with my dear friend Shaunie at a little deli and we decided to walk around a bit after lunch.

Just as we started walking down the hill, we saw Liam Neeson. Liam Neeson! He was walking with just one other person and no one was bothering him at all. I walked right up to him and asked for a picture and he said, "Sure." It all happened so fast that I couldn't even ask Shaunie if he wanted a picture. When I asked him later why he didn't ask Liam as well, he said it's because he thought Liam was going to shoot me down. Fair enough. I totally thought the same thing! Luckily he didn't and I was able to get this fun pic. :)
