People Watching = Pure Joy

I know I've said it before, but there's nothing quite as fun as people watching - especially at an outdoor concert. Here's a sprinkling of what the cat drug in last night. Really? Camouflage shorts? Honey, you're 100. Let's try dressing a tad bit more appropriately in the future. I know you're at an outdoor concert and therefore might fancy yourself to be young, hip, and spry, but you'd be wrong. Those shorts are a world of NO.This couple was both fascinating and completely annoying. He was the thorn in my dad's side for most of the concert, as apparently his seat sitting was blocking my dad's view. I was completely entertained by his wife, as she kept singing every song (to him, mind you) and he looked completely uninterested. Finally she scooted over next to him and then they would sway back and forth. By the end of the show they needed to get a room. Stat. If you added up the ages of this foursome, they'd probably be the same age as James Taylor. Did they even know who he was? I decided they just bought the tickets as a diversion method to get out of their houses and fondle each other on the grass.

The Age Old Question: Coke or Pepsi???

I've got this friend (whose name will remain anonymous to protect the innocent) who LOVES LOVES LOVES her Diet Coke. She loves it so much that her mother wants to stage an intervention. She loves it so much that when we go to dinner and she orders a Diet Coke, if they say, "We have Diet Pepsi, is that OK?" she actually says no and whips out a Diet Coke miraculously from her purse (I believe she's got a secret stash of them in there). If she could marry Diet Coke, she probably would (OK, now that was just for fun).

Now, as everyone knows, there's not much I love in this world (with the exception of the color pink, flamingos, Hello Kitty, and, oh, OK, my family and friends) more than Diet Pepsi (Diet Vanilla Pepsi, to be exact). If I could pump it into my veins I probably would. However, if I'm at a restaurant and they only have Diet Coke, I drink what they have. Does that mean my love is not as strong? Am I not as loyal as I once thought? I took the taste tests while blindfolded as a child. I don't remember which one I chose. Oh no, does that mean I'm not a true DP believer?!?

(This is called "Where Diet Coke Comes From" by the way)

Which one do you prefer? Do you have to have your specific selection at restaurants? Inquiring minds want to know.

What Not To Wear

I almost forgot to mention the funniest sighting at the concert the other night. Check out the vest wearing man - um, wow. If my iPhone had a zoom function, you could see his super cool earring, as well. The scariest part was watching him pace back and forth in front of the stage - planning an attack, perhaps? Or, just trying to demonstrate his cutting edge fashion sense?
Before I cropped the picture of Vest Man, I noticed the look this girl is giving me. Doesn't it look like she wants to fight me? Let's go, lady. I'll take it outside with you (like I'm so tough). I'd slap those sunglasses right off your scowly, pruney face.

Another 80's Faux Pas

Oh my goodness. The Girl Stuck In A Time Warp (we've discussed her before, I see her at work) is wearing one of these shirts today with silver hoop earrings and really big bangs. Oh, but instead of being bright pink, the shirt is half grey, half pastel pink. Yes, that's right, pastel pink. Oh, and don't forget the shoulder pads.I have no words.

V-necks, Short Skirts, and Cleavage, Oh My!

Stand in any line in any venue in Las Vegas and you'll realize one thing: What the F&%^ are people thinking? I mean, really. Do people look in their closets, pick out the sleaziest, oldest piece of crap outfit they see and think, "PERFECT!!! I'll fit right in!" I was absolutely shocked by the outfits we were surrounded by and especially by the lack of material around many women's mammary glands. My heavens, just when I start thinking I'm a "big city girl," I go somewhere like Vegas and realize I grew up in a small town and I'm just a simple person. Apparently, I'm a small town girl who gets really shocked and surprised when she's surrounded by fake boobies, loud and obnoxious bachelorette parties, and guys who look like they're trying to be on Entourage (do they call those "ballers?"). I realize the town prides itself on the slogan "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" but I guess I didn't know that meant someone's fashion sense or sense of decency. Do women really attract quality men this way? OK, wow, I'm starting to sound like I'm 100. When did I become a grandmother?
