Pinky's Fandance - Nick Nolte
When Shaunie and I were waiting for the elevator last night after dinner, Nick Nolte was getting off the elevator at the exact same time. Immediately I asked him for a picture (I even called him Mr. Nolte) and he kindly obliged.
Now, I had to stop myself because afterwards I was still confusing him with Gary Busey - they look a lot alike, right? But, he's not Gary Busey. Duh. I was thinking I've got a picture with Nick's son, Jake Busey, but, nope, that's not right. Silly girl. Jake is Gary's son. What is wrong with me? Why can I never remember that? Anyway. Fun to see Nick in such a random way.
The More You Know....
Last night while I was hanging with my friend Shaunie (one of my Sundance boys), several things happened in the course of our time together: 1) He "playfully" punched me in my scarm (the special name I have for my scar arm) and 2) I got cold. Really cold. Which means, I got my chill. Now, had he hung out with me on a regular basis, I wouldn't have to explain these things, but the fact is that we don't hang out very much. In fact, anyone who doesn't see me regularly might not know the following things:
1) I hate being punched, hit, and slapped, even in jest. I don't care if it's playful. It's not fun to me. Ever. It sucks. I especially hate being touched or hit on my left arm (or "scarm") because it went through the passenger side window of my car when I rolled down a hill a million years ago and, in addition to my oh-so-lovely scar, there's still got glass in it. So, yeah. It hurts. Just leave it alone and we'll get along fine.
2) I'm quite possibly the pickiest person in the world when it comes to food. There are way more things I won't eat than I will. I hate ketchup, onions, fish, Miracle Whip, and mustard just to name a few. No, I don't want to try something new. It won't change my mind. If it's boring and bland (and either loaded with cheese or a bloody rare steak), mark me down for a yes. Otherwise, buzz off.
3) When I get cold, I get a chill. Not just a normal, everyday chill, but a psychotic chill that makes it look like I'm having a seizure. My arms might fly up. It's not pretty. I look like a freak. It's most likely Terret's syndrome, who knows. I probably have some massive nerve damage somewhere that's causing my chills, but whatever. If you're around me and I get one of my chills, don't ask me what happened. Nothing to see here. Just keep walking.
4) I get really bad headaches. A lot. I've usually got one at least every day, but it's not usually that severe. I'm used to the daily ones and can manage them fairly well. When you need to worry is when I get a migraine and want to cut off my head. Then you should steer because all I want to do is hide in a dark cave until the pain subsides. I'm a beast. Stay away.
5) I'm sarcastic. A lot. Probably way more than I should be. I don't know why; I just am. Of course, this gets me into trouble on a regular basis because people don't always know how to take me. Usually I'm joking, but apparently that's not always apparent. Trust this, though: I'm a fairly outspoken person - if I'm mad at you, you'll know it. I'll either tell you, or ignore you. However, if I'm joking with you or being sarcastic, we're all good. Stop being so sensitive, you big baby.

Pinky's Fandance - Bryce Dallas Howard
I saw Bryce Dallas Howard being swarmed several months ago after leaving a movie and was impressed by how she handled it all. She was very kind and accomodating to everyone, even though there was a ton of shoving and madness all around. There was so much, in fact, that I backed off and decided I could get a picture another time because I didn't want that craziness all around. Then, of course, she went and did this terrific performance in The Help and I've been kicking myself that I didn't try harder for the picture ever since.
Luckily, I saw Bryce again the other night at the Q&A for The Help and she was so nice. I told her I loved her but hated her character and she said good, I was supposed to. That was the point. :) She was so pregnant, but still incredibly sweet. I adored her. Richie Cunningham did a great job raising her.
Rent This: RED STATE
Just so you know, I hate horror movies. HATE THEM. I want no part of anything bloody, gory, scary, or gross. On the flip side, I LOVE Kevin Smith movies and happen to think he's a bit of a genius. I was dying to see Red State and although I had a ticket to see it when it premiered at Sundance, when I heard it was a horror movie, I chickened out. I couldn't do it. I was scared. Of course, ever since then, I've heard nothing but how amazing, disturbing, brilliant and un-like a Kevin Smith movie it is, while still being great. Naturally, I was curious to see how it all played out, so when I saw it being streamed at Netflix, I decided to finally check it out by myself (where no one could see me scream). Here's my review: It's terrifyingly wonderful. I watched it on Sunday and the film still occupies my mind days later because it was really interesting, thought provoking, vicious, and well done. It's probably best I didn't see it in a theater, but wow. Just wow. Nicely done, Kevin. Nicely done.

Dear Santa (aka Why I Need A Samsung Multi-View Camera)
Dear Santa,
To prove to you how very good and deserving of special treats I am this year, I'm writing you super early to request the toy I desire with all my heart. They've FINALLY done it, Santa! They've done it! They've created a tiny camera with a multi-angle screen - exactly what I've been wanting for years and years. I can take self-portraits from a variety of angles - perfect for my celebrity pics!
I can tell you're very excited about this, as well, Santa, and so you may have your elves start working on one for me right away. In fact, if you'd like to deliver it early (as my other cameras aren't working right now) that would be amazing. Thanks so much, Santa! You're doing a great job!
Love and hugs, Pinky Lovejoy

Pinky's Fandance - Octavia Spencer
Anyone who has seen The Help knows that Octavia Spencer stole the entire show. While it's true the rest of the cast is amazing, Octavia knocked it out of the park and made me laugh and laugh. Two slice Hilly!
I was at two events last month where I missed meeting her, so I was thrilled to finally have the chance last night at a screening of The Help. Although I'd seen it and loved it before, it was just as good on the second viewing. Better, in fact (if that's even possible). The entire cast was lovely and I couldn't have been more pleased about meeting them. The only bummer was that my camera committed suicide right as I was about to get a picture with Octavia, so this had to be taken on my iPhone as the last resort...hence the wonky color. Oh, well. Still love it!
