There is Beauty All Around

Loving the beautiful sunsets in our new place!
No matter what's going on in the world, it's important to remember there is beauty all around us.

Taking a Beat

The world feels like it changed overnight. I'm not sure what that means for this blog right now, as I don't really feel as though I have much to say, nor does it feel right to post funny pics or make fun of clothes.
Perhaps I'm looking at this the wrong way and this is exactly the time I should be doing those things. I don't know. I'm adjusting to working from home. I'm figuring out my new semester and trying not to freak out over the scary news every few minutes. I'll be back soon in some way, I'm sure, but for right now I'm not sure what any of this means.

Loved This

I really liked this post I saw this weekend (I think my mom posted it - thanks, Mom!).

Honesty or Bust

Lately I've tried to take the approach that honesty is the best policy. In my opinion, it's far better to let people know how you feel because you never know what can happen. Also, maybe someone doesn't know what's really important to you and talking about it can help show them.
But, maybe I'm wrong. Because although I feel good in speaking my truth, I also feel like I'm always getting hurt feelings. I feel excluded. I feel left out. I feel like I'm being treated less than. I wish I had a heart of stone where nothing could bother me, but I don't. I feel things passionately, deeply, and profoundly. And all too often it doesn't serve me well. I don't really think there's a solution. I'm just really disappointed and sad right now.

Wisdom from a Bathroom Wall

This weekend we saw a play at a tiny theater which had really cool graffiti on the restroom wall.
This quote in particular spoke out to me. If not now, when?

Talk About Our Joys

Too often, I feel like all we do is talk about our problems, what's bothering us, or what's wrong with the world when, instead, we could be talking about all the amazing gifts we've been given and opportunities to shine.
Let's try to focus a little less on our issues and a little more on our wins. Perhaps we'll feel better about life overall if we try to make that a habit.
