Butterfly Grove

Considering I grew up only a half an hour away from Pismo Beach, I have no idea how I've never come across this Butterfly Grove before. 

However, just as we were getting ready to head out of town, there they were. Intrigued, we pulled over to explore more (similar to the Ostrich Land experience a few weeks ago).  

What a gorgeous place! This sign cracked me up.

As did this.

Butterflies are everywhere. I realize they're hard to see in the pictures, but any speck of orange is pretty much a butterfly.

This round of pictures really made me laugh. I had no idea Keith was looking away in the picture where I wasn't. Great minds think alike!

I love this picture. This might need to get framed.

Just in case you're wondering, we heart Pismo Beach. Perhaps we'll end up in a trailer by the ocean?

Pinky's Fandance - Sasheer Zamata

Sasheer Zamata was on SNL for a few seasons and I've been dying to meet her. She was at Sundance last year at the same time we were and I spent most of the time searching for her. Alas, by the time she arrived, we were buried in snow and had to get off the mountain, so my search for her was thwarted. Boo.

Now, she lives in New York, so it's not likely that I'd just run into her out here. So, I try and keep track of when she's out in LA. This time I lucked out on finding a detailed list of all the shows she was doing while in the area and we ventured out to her final one last night at a place called Ensenada's Best Fish Tacos. It was a really cool venue and I'm so stoked we got to finally meet!

New Bling, Who 'Dis?

So, Keith totally surprised me with this amazing ombre ring - isn't it amazing?!?!

After we were done with our gifts, he said I should go look in the kitchen for something else. Lo and behold, a ring box! I love it so much. I'm hardly getting anything done all week because all I'm doing is looking at my hand.

Before we left, we had to take a bunch of super cheesy pictures to end our perfect stay. Until next time, beloved getaway!

That's a really large bag. Like you could fit a person inside of it. A small one, sure, but a person nonetheless.

Meetiversary Morning Fun

On the morning of our five year meetiversary, we woke up in a magical place and heard the ocean waves crashing into the sea. It was perfect.

Our breakfast had been delivered, so we set it up on the patio to enjoy the view.

Heaven!

We also had presents to open...squee!

After breakfast and prezzies, we spent some time painting on the deck.

I'd actually bought us these adorable little canvases last year, but we'd never used them. I made sure to pack them for this trip and they were perfect!

Keith made a great heart with the ocean in the background.

Pinky's Fandance - David Mendenhall

David Mendenhall is a good friend of Keith's who we hadn't seen in a long time (I think since our wedding).

Apparently, he was a child star who played Sylvester Stallone's son in Over the Top (not a movie I would ever see). 

David is very sweet and it was great to see him at brunch last week.

Really nice of him to make the journey to attend since he lives pretty far away now.

Driving to Paradise

On our way out of town last week, we stopped to see my sister's family. 

Her hubby's shirt cracked me up. I love it so much. If you look closely, you'll see that the sloth is actually an astronaut.

After that, it was clear sailing to our destination. Of course, we had a horrible view.

I mean, ugh, gross, right? We kept trying to get Keith to make the perfect, "Can you believe this?" face, but we weren't having much luck.

Gorgeous! Loved seeing the sunset to start out our trip!
