Where The Day Takes You

In addition to finally meeting Dermot Mulroney, last night I had the opportunity to watch Where The Day Takes You, which is the best movie I'd never heard of. Initially I went with my friend Liz because we wanted to watch the Q&A with Dermot and it was cold outside, but we ended up just falling in love with the film.

I'm so glad we went! The movie is from 1991 and has this all-star cast of Dermot Mulroney, Lara Flynn Boyle, Sean Astin, Balthazar Getty, Will Smith, James LeGros, Ricki Lake, Kyle MacLachlan, Alyssa Milano, David Arquette, and Laura San Giacomo. It's about runaway kids in Hollywood and is just really well made. I loved the story, I loved the acting, and I loved the shots around the city. Great film! If you get a chance to see it, I highly recommend it. Watch this film - seriously, I don't know why it's not better known.

Pinky's Fandance - Dermot Mulroney

It's hard not to crush on someone as talented as Dermot Mulroney, especially when he's also super nice to his fans and passionate about filmmaking.

Last night I finally had the chance to meet him and he didn't disappoint at all. I'd heard he was super nice and he was amazing. Love him.

Happy Birthday, Brittony!

It's been a busy few days and I didn't have a chance to blog a proper Happy Birthday greeting to my sister-in-law, Brittony!

Happy belated birthday, Brit! I hope you had a great day! :)

Celebrity Wrap Up - Sunday Edition

Hello and welcome to Sunday's edition of Celebrity Wrap Up.

I'm not sure if you know this, but I'm totally and completely in love with Owen Wilson. I'm fairly certain he feels the same way, we just haven't met yet. Wait.

How many outfits is she wearing?

Wow. He sure looks dandy.

Hey Ryan, that's not her face.

Somewhere in Florida, a grandmother is naked.

Top Five FAILS of the Day

Things That Make Me Ugh

So, I was going to call this Things I Hate, but I'm trying to be positive today and will therefore only say...UGH. Or blech. Whatever you prefer. 1) I'm ridiculously tired. Like, I've never been this tired in my life. When I do sleep, it's that I-feel-awake-while-sleeping type of sleep which sucks, so I never feel rested. Ever since that stupid night in my hometown (where I lost a good eight hours of my life I'll never get back), I can't seem to get feeling better. WTF.
2) I got pulled over last night for being on my phone. Gah! The siren scared the crap out of me - I'm fairly certain I jumped out of my seat. Luckily I talked my way out of a ticket and into a warning....so this is a bad news/good news post. Thank you, officer, for giving me a much needed break. I will never break the law again...especially whilst driving past a police office. Duh! 3) If I see those Old Navy models on TV one more time (which is guaranteed to happen, since they're on every two seconds), I'm going to scream. Who created these monstrosities? They're the WORST!! Someone needs to be fired. The real question, of course, is who are the people responding favorably to these creatures which brings them back again and again? Blind people? People in comas? Babies? Last but not least, the thing to make me go ugh, or hate, or just generally despise is Hootie himself, Darius I'm-not-nice-to-my-fans Rucker. I realize I told you I was going to tell you the entire story from last week, but suffice it to say that he's a tool who shouldn't be famous. Radio stations across the country are picking up the story and saying it's OK for him to have yelled at me to "get a life" because I told him he sucked. Hmmm. While it's true I told him he sucked, I'm not in the habit of telling random people they suck (to their face, at least) and only did so after a long day of waiting for his rude, ingrateful self. I've been a Darius fan a long, long time - even going to Park City in the early nineties for a Hootie and the Blowfish show - and to be told that he has things to do aside from taking ONE picture with a fan who'd been waiting there for hours was more than I could take. Most celebrities, while promoting their music or movies or whatever, come over to the fans either on the way in or on the way out of the talk show. Really cool people like Colin Farrell come over when they arrive AND when they leave (and, for the record, Colin Farrell is 1,000 times more famous than Hootie. I'm just saying). Darius, as he told us, was "working" and couldn't be bothered. Not when he arrived, not before or after sound check, not for the hour he sat waiting backstage, and not when he left. He doesn't deserve my support, nor will he have it ever again. He's a world of ugh.

Pinky's Fandance - Dick Van Dyke

It's always hard to meet a true Hollywood legend, because you fear that they may somehow disappoint you in person, which would then tarnish all the good feelings you had about that person. As I grew up watching Dick Van Dyke be amazing in everything from Mary Poppins to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I was terrified to meet him in public for fear he would be less-than-cheery and break my heart. Luckily, that was not the case and Mr. Van Dyke was a true gentleman as he left his brand new show. At first I was afraid he was blowing me off because he didn't seem to hear me, but I think I just wasn't speaking loud enough. Once he heard my request he was as nice as can be. Hooray! It's not every day you get to meet someone who was such a big part of your childhood.

Eat Pray Love

I finally got around to seeing Eat Pray Love and enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Don't get me wrong, I loved the book - which is exactly why I didn't think I'd like the movie. Of course, I'm still one of those "the book is better" people and I don't really think Julia was the best one for the role, but whatever. Not my decision. If you do rent it and are short on time, don't select the Director's Cut, as it's apparently neverending, but the scenery is nice. Overall, I think they took one too many deviations from the actual story, but what do I know? It's a movie. Meant to entertain. It'd probably be hard to fit all the serenity of the book into cinematic gold, right?

Celebrity Wrap Up - Saturday Edition

Hello and welcome to Saturday's Hot Guy Edition of Celebrity Wrap Up. You're welcome. Oh, Ben. Now, why couldn't you have had that luxurious hair when we met? Why did you have to have that crew cut? Someday, I'll meet you on the perfect day and all will be right with the world.
Colin. You are so lovely. Truly, you are. Not only are you smoking to look at, but you're as kind as kind can be, which gets extra special bonus points. David, the fact that you're so involved with your children is the ultimate turn-on for me. I love seeing you out riding and having fun with them. Swoon. Now, James, I could do without the porn 'stache - seriously, I think we all could - but you're still hot, so I'll give it a pass. For now. Still, let's work on shaving it, m'kay?
Johnny, sweet Johnny, you're the only one on this list of hottie pa-totties whom I haven't yet met. Sigh. Let's rectify that soon, OK? All my love, Pinky Lovejoy

Top Five LOL Cats of the Day

Holiday Gift Ideas

In case you're in need of some holiday gift ideas, I present the following:

Nesting doll ice cubes...too bad they didn't get various sizes.

Chocolate covered potato chips...brilliant or frightening?

A Hello Kitty microscope? For the adorable genius in your life.

Nesting doll canisters? I love anything nesting doll related. They rule.

Poor little gingerbread cookies. They're very sad indeed.

Pinky's Fandance - Sarah Drew

Sarah Drew plays one of the most annoying characters on Grey's Anatomy, but it's still my fave show.

She was in the audience at the show the other night and I kept doing double takes to be sure it was her. It was! Finally, after the show I went up and asked her for a pic - even mentioning how her character was annoying. Apparently, she already knew. Happily, in person she's nothing like her character. :) Yay.

Celebrity Wrap Up - Friday Edition

Does Brad Pitt think he's an aviator?

Was she trying to look like a cake?

For someone usually so fashionable, this dress is a world of no.

Oh good, she got some rest.

Wow. When I grow up I want to look like Helen Mirren. Please?
