Celebrity Wrap Up - Monday Edition
Hello and welcome to Monday's edition of Celebrity Wrap Up.
Oh, Hoff. You so crazy. What would possibly make you (or anyone foe that matter) think this outfit is something to be worn outside your house?
If you look at Katy and then back to Kathy, I'm afraid Kathy starts looking worse and worse. Bless her heart.

I can't decide what I think about Jake and Taylor. On one hand, super cute. On the other, doesn't he seem WAY too old for her, or do I just view her as a child?
Not that it's my business, but I liked that they'd just started dating - until I read that she went to his home for Thanksgiving. Hello, warp speed. And do they have much in common aside from an obvious love of coffee? Oh, really....who cares? As long as they're happy, right?

Pinky's Fandance - Jesse Kovacs
Yesterday I was at a mall when Jesse Kovacs from The Bachelorette and Bachelor Pad walked by. At first, I did a little double take as though he was an old friend of mine, but I couldn't quite place him.
Of course, as soon as he passed me it hit me that he'd been on one of my cheesy daring shows, but I feared I missed my chance as he'd long passed me by the time I put it together.
Typically I like to have an assurance that someone is a celeb before I ask for a picture, but in this case I was only about 95% sure. I had to walk quickly to catch up to him, but once I did I asked if he'd been on The Bachelorette. Obviously, he was! Both he and his girlfriend (?) were super nice and he loved my name (then again, who doesn't?). Stoked!

Why I Love Sundance
This week rendered the long-awaited announcement of the Official Festival Selections of films for the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. As a bonafide Sundance-a-file (I'm almost certain this term actually exists) I was counting down the days until the selections were made. I read all the articles which contemplated and anticipated which movies would be chosen and eagerly awaited the results. In previous years, I worked part-time on the film catalog and therefore knew all the inside scoop, so waiting this long kills me.
For those who've never experienced the joy and wonder that is Sundance, there's really nothing like it. I realize on the surface my love may be wholly attributed to the celebrity factor and I'll admit it's a part of it. But to be honest, I already have most of the celebrities going this year and to go all the way to Utah for a photo op when I live near LA is a bit absurd. That's not at the heart of my love affair.
The reason I love Sundance is for the energy in the air, the creativity which abounds, and the frenetic, intoxicating pace at every step. I try to see as many films as I can (sometimes up to 25) because the way they're shown at Sundance is in their truest form. Once the film gets sold (if it even gets sold), the final version is at the discretion of the studios and they can really chop stuff up. When you see a film at Sundance, you're viewing it with a willing, excited, anxious audience who laughs, cries, and really feels the piece. You're unified with those people as you screen something together and you share this bond I can't put into words. Even if you hate the movie - and, trust me, I've disliked a lot of films - you can appreciate the acting, or the story behind it, or the passion the filmmaker has for the project. With each Q&A you learn something new and varied and the opportunity to see these world premieres is incredible. Even better? The debates and opinions on which films were good or bad. So many opinions! I love it.
When I started at the Festival, I didn't know anything other than my dream had been to someday work for the Sundance Film Festival, and I did everything I could to make that happen. Along the way I've met amazing, life-long friends, had insane experiences, and a lot of fun. By the end of each Festival I'm exhausted, starving, worn down, and freezing, but I leave with a smile on my face already planning to return the next year. This will be my tenth festival and it's become my favorite thing in the entire world - it's my Christmas, New Year's, 4th of July...well, you get the idea. I love the talent, the creativity, the passion, and the love. Equally put together it's a magical combination that to me means joy.

Celebrity Wrap Up - Sunday Edition

The peek-a-boo panels on that dress just look like someone staged a robbery on her dress and took her dignity.

Three Cheers for Diane!!!
When I was working on that film a few months back, as a special treat we had this AMAZING salad for dinner one night. Now, I love a good salad, but this one blew my mind and I've been wanting to go back to Pasadena ever since to get one to go so my dad could try it (OK, and maybe to have it again, as well).
It's called "The Diane Salad" and apparently it's famous in its own right (with good reason!). The salad is made with white chicken, crisp Asian noodles, toasted almonds, sesame seeds and lettuce. This salad is light and healthy and served with a side of delicious zucchini bread to boot. In case you needed further proof of its goodness, my dad said it was so incredible he wanted to give it out as a holiday gift. No joke! If you find yourself in Pasadena, treat yourself to this salad at The Green Street cafe. You'll thank me later.

Try as I may, I don't think I'll ever get used to being at a mall or a store, whatever, and seeing someone like the one and only JACK ABBOTT walk by.

I'm blogging from my phone, so it's hard to write too much, but suffice it to say that Darius Rucker (aka Hottie from the Blowfish fame) SUCKS. Oh, and I *may* have told him so...Look at his face - he hates me!
The ONLY reason he came over to the barricade at all was because I yelled he sucked. Then he said he'd do autographs and pictures for everyone BUT me. Wow. Really? Mature. Apparently he couldn't do them when he arrived because (his words), "He was working." I'm not sure why he couldn't do a picture after soundcheck (as I was the ONLY one requesting one), but when he did FINALLY come over after I yelled that he sucked, he said he had things to do and I should, "get a life." Hmmm. I don't remember asking him for a kidney or a month of his time - just one measly picture. Sorry to hear his fans (please note I'm now an EX fan) are such an inconvenience to him. More on this engaging tale (complete with video!) later, but for now just know that Hootie DOES NOT wanna be with me or hold my hand - he sucks. Period.

I'm With the Band
So, at the concert the other night they had all these fun booths. In one of them you got to tell Weezer your "wish" and in return you got a pair of cool Weezer glasses and the possibility that your wish could be granted by the band (Spens wished for the band to give him some drumsticks).
At another booth, you could stick your head through the sign (as modeled by me above) and get your picture taken "with the band." Spens was having none of it, though - heaven forbid he do something so ridiculous. You know, teenagers.

Pinky's Fandance - Halle Berry
Never in a million years did I think I'd ever get to meet the beautiful and insanely talented Halle Berry. When I found out she was going to be doing a Q&A after the screening, I was beside myself with excitement and the possibility of a picture. I didn't want to think too much about it, but my heart was pounding out of my chest the entire time she was talking.
In person she's as amazingly gorgeous as you'd suspect. She was also kind, genuine, and nice - which is a fabulous trio of qualities to have. Thank you, Halle!

Frankie and Alice
Backstage magazine hosted a screening tonight of Halle Berry's latest film Frankie and Alice. Let me say this - if you thought Halle was amazing before, this movie will blow you away.
Halle plays a woman with multiple personalities, which is a plot line I can never get enough of. I think it's so fascinating. I'm so glad I was able to get a sneak peak at this work of art. It was definitely worth the drive.
